There was a story in the news about a British citizen who just died from rabies. He was on vacation in Morocco and was nipped by a cat. He sought medical care but was not given the vaccine needed to prevent rabies. He died on November 4. It is very rare but still so prevalent in other countries. Please seek treatment if you are bitten, licked or scratched by a cat or dog.
So sad. If your international travel takes you to the developing world outside the US, and if you’re planning to interact with animals, you really should consider getting the rabies vaccine beforehand. Otherwise, be sure to get a travel insurance policy that covers evacuation and medical treatments. These policies will allow you the opportunity to get sound advice and make a safe plan.
