Some not so new diseases spread by animals and insects are lymes disease, rabies, zika, rocky mountain spotted fever and west nile virus just to name a few . Has anyone been diagnosed with lymes disease or rocky mountain spotted fever? It would help this group to know what symptoms you experienced. What treatment did you receive and do you have lingering effects?
With climate change, we are seeing more cases of certain diseases that we didn’t see before, the insects are able to survive and transmit.
Lyme disease is a great example of this. Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever is also tick-borne but in contrast to Lyme that sometimes has a chronic presentation, RMSF is an acute illness with obvious symptoms, high fever, characteristic rash, headache etc, and causes death in up to 80% who do not receive prompt treatment with antibiotics.
