International Overdose Awareness Day, is Friday, August 31st. I hope people will remember to wear purple to show support and continue to create awareness.

  I’m not aware of any formalized plans, but maybe someone else here is aware. We’re wearing purple at work as part of our wellness program.

Did you know that our Allegany County EMS providers are part of a unique pilot project in our State?

In collaboration with the Allegany County Health Department, they are distributing naloxone kits to family members or friends who are on site when an overdose has occurred.

Thanks for the update, Jennifer. It will be good to know if any of those who receive the kits utilize them in the future and what those outcomes are. I have such respect for EMS and am saddened/disturbed by how overburdened they are because of drugs.
