This past summer and fall the ACHD Wellness Committee encouraged a different employee each week to bring in fruits and herbs to infuse a large container of water each Wednesday. This was a huge success and the Wellness group has decided to keep Wellness Water Wednesday going. This is an easy idea you can introduce in your worksites.

Allegany County Health Department has a new (or revived) Worksite Wellness Committee. It is exciting to attend the meetings and see the ideas generated to improve the well-being of the ACHD employees. Thanks to Alison Robinson who has agreed to chair the group .

I am wondering how many restaurants are inspected by our health department, and at what frequency?

We have about 425 food facilities that are under license. Some are inspected 3 times per year, some 2 times per year, and low priority facilities are inspected every other year.

about 929 inspections were conducted last year.
