Can someone tell me what the current standard is for Colorectal Screenings if you have had prior polyps removed and they were serrated adenomas. They were 3 years apart 2 different times. That is a great question and there are a lot of factors that go into when a person should have a repeat colonoscopy. We follow the guidelines set by the Medical Advisory Committee through our cancer programs in the State of Maryland. Chrissy posted about the fact that 50% of STI’s occur in the 15-24 year old age group (even though they make up only 25% of the sexually active population). I have uploaded a document from the CDC that offers guidance to parents on how to talk to their teens about sex, since teens are included in this high incidence population.

How will Allegany County be participating in October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month? What activities are planned?

We are participating in a Womens Health Presentation on October 9 at WMHS. I have attached a flyer that tells about this program. Should be very informative, and we will have a table set up with nurses to answer questions about cancer and screenings. Did you know, according the the CDC (2017), people between the ages of 15-24 account for half of the new STD’s each year?

I am wondering about health insurance policies available on the exchange this upcoming enrollment season. I have heard the options include policies with lower deductibles and lower copays than in previous years. Is there truth to this?
