Diseases Spread by Humans, Animals and Insects 6 years, 4 months agoI understand the EColi from the romaine lettuce contamination was traced to a farm in Santa Barbara county California. It’s very curious how their contaminated irrigation water source (used for all the crops) only resulted in contamination of the romaine, but not other types of lettuce.

Patients and clinicians should know to send stool culture on anyone with bloody diarrhea (a sign of possible E coli infection), and not to reflexively treat with antibiotics, because it can increase the risk of having kidney damage.

Great to see this data, thanks for posting it.
I look forward to watching year round trends for Lyme disease, transmission still possible, but much reduced levels of exposure in the winter.
