Zika can be sexually transmitted from a person who has Zika to his or her sex partners, even while they are not symptomatic. STD’s and STI’s: What’s going on down there? 6 years agoI noticed in your uploaded files that we are seeing increases in cases of chlamydia and gonorrhea in Allegany County. Have you noticed any increase in the number of people seeking to be tested? In your experience, what % of people seeking to be tested are having symptoms of disease, and what % is not having any symptoms at all, but are just concerned?

Great questions! I do not believe there has been an increase in any specific population seeking testing. In my experience, about half of the individuals that present to clinic for a routine screening and test positive for chlamydia and/or gonorrhea are not having symptoms.

I just reviewed all the documents and found them useful. Now I have a question. What makes pregnant women at higher risk for STD/STI?

The pregnant woman who has an untreated STI/STD is placing her fetus at risk. Many of these germs can pass to the baby and cause harm to the baby, and therefore pregnancy is a higher risk category. I do not know of other rationales, maybe we will hear from someone else.
