Today is October 2, and we are kicking off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know you can reduce your risk of breast cancer. Some risk factors cannot be reduced (such as age), but there are things you can do.
Maintain a healthy weight
Exercise regularly
Limit the amount of alcohol you consume
Talk with your doctor about hormone replacement therapy and the risks to find out if it is right for you
Breastfeed your children if possible
Know your family history and talk with your doctor about genetic testing if you have a family history of breast cancer.
Go to the CDC website to learn more information about how to reduce your risk.
